Stilettos in the sand

Can a 'Jewish Princess' survive the Israeli desert?

A new charity project is sending a group of British Jewish women to the Negev Desert in Israel next year to see if they can survive the hardships of outdoor living.

The 10-day event, titled ’I’m a Jewish Princess…..What am I doing here?’, is seeking to raise money for British Emunah, and perhaps shatter a stereotype about the concept of ’Jewish Princess’.

Organisers plan to make the event cult viewing through streamed internet coverage of the group’s progress every evening from 25 February to 6 March 2006. And avid surfers will have an opportunity to vote for which princess they want to reward and eventually win.

Emunah chairman Mindy Wiesenberg said: “Jewish Princess is a unique concept to showcase Israel and a group of fabulous women doing something special to help others."

“It will engage a new and younger audience of supporters, highlight the ethos and values of the modern Jewish woman and raise money for the one in three children in Israel living below the poverty line.”
